It sucks, but the Christmas Break is nearly over. It’s interesting though, you never really get exactly what you want. When you’re busy you wish you had free time, when you have free time, you wish you were busy. I guess part of me just wants to get back to directing again (although I still have to wrap up some stuff on my previous project). It’s this feeling of ‘withdrawal’ that most film students feel.

But I will be busy, sooner than I think. Things have already started popping back out again.

Went driving up north of Brampton this week. It was pitch black out, extremely cold and windy. I wanted to try out some long exposure shots- but all I had was a dinky $30 tripod and my Nikon. Luckily it worked out, this one of the last pictures took- Some of the other ones had some minor flares but this one came out nicely. The stars were a happy mistake, I wasn’t sure if I would get them or not.

It feels weird not taking a picture each day. I do appreciate the extra time I get to take my photos, a lot more experimenting and playing around is allowed.

And that’s a wrap.

Finished. Completed. Done.

365 days, 365 photos. Is there much else I have to say, that my photo’s don’t tell already?

This project was a powerful exercise for me. Composition, color, lighting- I’ve learned so much about photography. Sometimes the shots were staged with specific lighting, some were complete mistakes. Others were heavily experimented- I did a lot of that.

I’d like to thank everyone that has supported me through the whole project. I’d list names, but I’d just miss people. Some of you caught up in the middle, some from the very first photo. Whether you modeled for me, gave me tips or just logged on to check my photos- I thank you. Your support motivated me to push on. There were times where the thought crossed my head “Fuck it, you’ve done enough”. But countless times I’ve been told “Keep it up” or “I’m looking forward to the next photo”- those kept me going.

The 365 Project was started on a feeling. What feeling it was, I’m not so sure. I decided to stay home instead of going out to party. Why? I’m not so sure. I wanted to test myself. Not only my photographic skills, but my ability to commit with sometime. Most of my life,I left a lot things half way done. I was tired of doing that. I wanted to start something and finish something. The 365 Project was this ‘something’ I wanted to finish.

And here I am, writing the final posting.

Finished. Completed. Done.

Now what’s next?

52.

It sounds simple enough. A photo a week until the year is over.

Sometimes I take over 52 photos in a day.

The 52 Project is meant to put a framework around my creativity; let the juices flow and in turn hone and ripen my skills as a photographer. If all goes well, I’ll be a “better” photographer by the end of this year.

I am restricted to post only a single photo a week. The photos will not have a central theme- it’s based on my own everyday life. This gives me creative freedom within restrictions. To help me control my creativity if you will.

We have 52 week together- lets take it a week at a time, shall we?

I’ll see you in 2010 2011.

Day 355.

Today is the second last day, the second last photo of the 365 Project.

What is there to say that hasn’t been said? I originally wrote a large posting here, but I think I’ll reserve that for tomorrows picture.

Thank you for keeping up this far. Check in tomorrow (later today) for Day 365.

The last picture.
